A typical morning and afternoon for us so far here at our ministry site is to dig trenches and holes, build fences for a chicken coop, mix cement for the fence posts, and put up a cement wall for the pigsty. We have the late afternoon off so my team has been spending our time exercising in some way. In the evening, we play with the girls at the orphanage here. The organization that we are working with is called “Remember Nhu.” Their website is: www.remembernhu.org. “Remember Nhu” brings girls who are at-risk for the sex trafficking industry to the orphanage.
We are working in the field mostly with Americans Ron and Peggy. Their son happens to be the father on the “Little People, Big World” Reality TV Show. If you have ever seen the show, you would know that Ron and Peggy’s son is a very hard worker. Ron is also a very hard worker so we have been kept busy doing whatever we could to help out. So far, in the two days that I have been here, I have dug a trench for a pipe, dug a hole for a fence post, moved materials (water, cement, sand), helped paint, and cemented a wall.
We are sleeping in our tents this month which we are all enjoying so far. The weather is really warm during the day (probably around 80ish) and comfortably cool at night. We have also been offered some houses to stay in if we would like but so far we are wanting to spend time in our tents.
