We worshipped in the park outside the cathedral in Baños, Ecuador. I felt a tug on my heart to go talk to two men sitting on a bench not that far from where we were worshipping. I began talking to them in my broken Spanish and found out their names were Luis and Kevin. I talked with Luis for a long time, asking about his daughter and his brother. I asked what he needed prayer for and he said his job. I asked what it was. Turns out, he and Kevin are professional soccer players for Ecuador!

Here’s the cool part (besides them being famous in Ecuador). I don’t know Spanish super well. Somehow during my conversation with them though, I understood what they were saying, and I had the words to respond in a way that they understood. God had given me the words and helped me understand so that I could hear this man’s story. We ended up praying and singing together in that park that night. It’s not every day you understand a language better than you ever have and minister to a professional athlete.
