Ministry this month is quite different from ministry in the Dominican Republic. The work is more relaxed, sometimes falls through, or changes and involves more free time with God. However, I’ve really enjoyed this month. It’s been such a great chance to grow in his word, listen to what he has to say, grow deeper into a relationship with him and find out what he really wants for my life! It’s glorious. More moments to rest in his presence. It is just as important to continually grow in the Lord, and be loved by him so you can encourage, grow and love others. We worked with two ministries this month.
1. Pastor Edward
Church – Services Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday. Sometimes twice a day. Singing, prayer, sermons and worship take place. You can’t understand what they are saying but you can tell the spirit is heavily present. Pastor Edward’s church is my favorite thus far.
Vacation Bible School – Everyone shows up an hour late. It’s their culture. We joke around when we have to be somewhere at a certain time and ask is it Haitian time? Or American time? The same thing goes in the DR. People just show up whenever they feel like showing up. Always bring your bible or journal to fill in that extra extra free time. Once people do show up. It’s a grand ole time. We play games, learn French and Creole, sing and dance and just love on these kids. They hold your hand and just examine it. Want to braid your hair, tickle you, poke at you and just be close. I love that love has no language barrier.

Miscellaneous – Sometimes our ministry falls through so we get creative and find other ways to bring God’s kingdom and show his love.
Walk and Worship- Grab a guitar and lets walk the streets of carrefour; encircling people with God’s love by praising him. We go wherever the spirit is leading us. Sometimes we get followers, curious people watching and wondering what we are doing. Others rejoice and join in. Hallelujah! And some get a little funny, I am finding more how much God has a sense of humor. I really enjoy this method of ministry.
Prayer walk – We have done this a couple of times and consisted of walking through the roads and praying for those we see whether directly to them when we had a translator or indirectly when we just wanted to lift those up around us. We pray for women, children, those who sell goods in the streets, the elderly, churches, Haitians who are struggling. Prayer walks are great.
