This month will look a little different for our team than for the rest of the squad. Originally, the entire squad was going to Thailand together for our April ministry. The boys were going to go off and do “man”istry, and most of the girls were going to do one of the ministries that they were most looking forward to this year…working with the girls involved in the sex trade industry in Thailand…which are many. This plan however ran into a few snags in the planning process when many of our previous ministry contacts in Thailand were unavailable to host us for the month. Plan B. After many prayers and emails being sent up and out, a decision was made that directly affects the Gentle Warriors in particular. Because we are an all girls team and all very much want to minister to the girls in Thailand, we will have a greater opportunity to do so if we go in may instead. So, while the rest of the squad is headed west to Thailand next month, my team will be going the opposite direction…to Vietnam!
This month will be our ATL (Ask The Lord) month…a month earlier than the rest of the squad. Basically what that means is that this entire month is about learning to ask the Lord about everything,

from what country we will go to, where we will live, what ministry we will do, asking Him to miraculously provide financially when needed…everything. So, as soon as we found out we would not be going to Thailand for April, we began praying about where the Lord wanted our team to go. Adding to the challenge, our budget is $100 less per person for the month…so we have $400/person for the entire month of expenses, so travel costs alone help dictate our destination options. Fortunately, the Lord brought us all to a near unanimous decision to go to Vietnam, so onward we will go.
We leave in less than a week and have visas in our passports and bus tickets across the border in hand…and that’s about the extent of what is planned out. God has given us a contact in Ho Chi Minh City, so that is where we will go first, but after that…truly, the Lord only knows. We are so excited about what God has planned for our team, that we will have the opportunity to learn to rely on the Lord’s voice more than ever before, and that we will learn to rely on each other in new ways. This will actually be our first month of ministry that our team is all alone, and we are ready for it!
Vietnam is a semi-closed country to Christianity, so we are not sure yet what restrictions that will mean for us, as far as being responsible and cautious as needed in communicating through blogs and emails. Be praying for our team as we prepare to head into Vietnam and that we would boldly follow the Lord’s leading this coming month. Vietnam…here we come!
