2015 was a year of adventure, discovery, and huge growth. From moving down from Detroit to the sunny city of Atlanta, to landing an amazing job at Van Michael, a world renowned salon. Connecting with new people, figuring out what to do with my free time. Understanding what it means to be an ‘adult’ made me realize my parents are nothing less than super heroes! How do they do it all?! So much newness and the thing that had grown the most was my relationship with God. This lead me to a life of abundance and that’s the state that I’m still living to this day.

Now I know your wondering, “what made you want to leave the comfort of this new, abundant life to travel around the world serving others?” God brought the World Race to me in the middle of last year. I had some neighbors that we’re starting a church plant in their apartment and they were all involved with or former World Racers. This got me thinking… I knew that I had a passion for traveling throughout my life, I love people, I love serving people, I love making people feel beautiful and instilling confidence in them, I love change and now I love growing to become more like Jesus! These thoughts ran through my head for the rest of the year until I couldn’t fight it anymore. Finally, I came to a decision by the end of the year: This was the next chapter of my life, and this was going to be the start of something amazing!

One of the biggest things that I’m looking forward to most is providing free haircuts to people in all these countries! Cutting someone hair is a very personal act. You’re in eachother’s space, there’s physical touch, and you’re in this moment where you as a hairdresser get to create an atmosphere. I hope to tear down walls; helping people to open up, and to be a vessel of love to every person I cut. To listen, learn, and convey hope no matter the situation they’re facing, they have a purpose and they are loved. I thank God for this gift of bringing out people’s  beauty. Haircutting is simply cutting away, to make the beauty that was always there visible again.

This is why I’m doing the World Race and some things I’m very excited for! 🙂
