This month is what the World Race culture likes to call MANistry month. I‘m gonna call it Fellaship. The 13 of us guys on our squad are spending the month in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. It’s a rural community about 5 hours northwest of Bangkok close to the Burmese border. This place is legit. I know I over use that word, but seriously it’s legit. We’re working with a family of young missionaries, Pbeng, Arun, Ma and Pa. Oh yeah, there’s our translator Big too who has become the 14th member of our man squad. There’s My, the most ridiculous pit bull in the world.Arun has made a huge impact on this small farming community over his time here. The goals of the ministry are to implement a community development project here and teach farming techniques. Along with that, Pbeng and Arun have built a small church and have gotten some people in the area to join.
This is our first country where Christianity is not the major faith. Of about 65 million people, only about 1% claim to be followers of Christ. Thailand is predominately a Buddhist nation. It’s also the first place where things aren’t in English. I can’t even begin to decipher what their language says. It’s beautiful, but I don’t even know where to begin with it.
Our ministry here is to reach out to this community through farming and programs at the church. Also, the Thai Princess is coming to town, no big. Just another day on the race. We’re helping the school down the road prepare for her arrival. She is supposed to be here the day we leave, so pray that we get a chance to actually meet her.
Here’s some pics of the area. Oh and we got to ride elephants! It was awesome!
