Picture this, a library with as many books as the eye can see, amassing to over 7,000,000,000. Each one is different and contains a unique story. Now, imagine a hand taking one of those books off a shelf. The cover comes into view, and you see your name written in gold stitching across the front. The hand opens the book to the first chapter, entitled: Birth. It skims through the pages and you catch glimpses of the other chapters: High School, Baptism, Marriage, Children, and then to the last chapter: Entering Heaven.

Now this is how I like to think God views our lives. He can easily flip to any part of our lives. He knows the beginning, middle and end of us. He knows the struggles and the joys we will face. He knows all the characters. He’s the author of our story, so He knows every inch of it.

God is not limited by time. He is ruler over all, so He can see the whole picture. This used to freak me out because if God knows who I’ll become then why waste time on me now. That’s such a huge lie. God has our book in His hands. He’s reading each page and loving us just where we are in our story. He laughs with us. He cries with us. He’s there when we cry out to Him. He’s there when we are angry with Him. I like to think that God doesn’t like to skip to the end of books. I like to think that He chooses to read along with us. He enjoys watching us grow closer to Him. He just loves us.

Another thing that’s cool is that God has the ability to not only forgive our sins, but forget them. Psalm 51 is all about David asking the Lord to forget his sins. He asks Him to “…blot out my transgression.” Here I like to imagine God flipping to those pages in our live, taking a huge pen and actually blotting out those sections. He may even tear a page out if He needs to. Once you declare that Christ is your Savior, you are made new. The sins you committed in the past are forgiven and forgotten. REMEMBER THAT! We have new hearts that are pure and whole. God has taken those pages out in our lives. There’s no need for us to continue to dwell on them. Forgive yourself.

So don’t beat yourself up about where you’re at. God knows we’re going to stumble, but He loves seeing us come out of that struggle. All good stories have conflict and resolution. Each of our stories are unique and designed specifically for us.

Much Love.
