Meet Pastor Ivan Rios:
We learned about him while riding in a taxi in David, Panama. The taxi driver was one of the Pastor’s five sons. He gave us his dad’s number and told us that he works in Boquete, which was an hour away from where we were staying.
So we called his dad and made arrangements to meet with him in Boquete.
When we arrived, we were instantly excited about having a team stay in this town. It feels like a small mountain town in the states with cute shops and friendly people. We actually saw quite a few churches in the town, but since we were only there a short day and pressed for time on our trip, we couldn’t check them all out. But we made one contact that has many contacts and connections, and it would be worth exploring!
We met up with Pastor Ivan at his church, Ministerio de la Luz. He doesn’t speak English, so he brought his English translator in to help with communication. We explained what we were doing this month with unsung heroes, and he explained to us what He is doing. So he has about 5 churches all over Panama. This is just one of them in Boquete. But his church in Boquete has connections with the indigenous people in the surrounding area, so that is something teams could help out with. Also, the church is a part of a school from kindergarten up through highschool, making another possible opportunity for teams to be apart of with this ministry.
I believe there is plenty of opportunity in ministry with this church, and it could open the door to other contacts as well. Not only with Pastor Ivan, but also with other churches in the beautiful town of Boquete.

It would be amazing to have a team work with them in Boquete!
