I came to camp with a lot of junk. I’m glad to say that I left without it!
I experienced FREEDOM in worship! I grew up in a very reverent church (nothing wrong with it!) but it became wrong when I wanted to raise my hands but felt like I couldn’t. Or when I wanted to jump but I couldn’t. Or when I wanted to dance & shout but I couldn’t. So check, check, check, and check during Training Camp – That’s right, I raised my hands, jumped around, danced & shouted during worship!!! WOOHOO JESUS! I experienced FREEDOM from my past! I had issues and unforgiveness that I didn’t even know that I had but God brought them to the surface and the ties were cut off!
The number one question I’ve gotten since getting back from Training Camp is “What was your favorite part of the week?” Well, I have many memories & great stories BUT the one thing that I absolutely LOVED was the one night I actually went camping (with no tent).
Making our way into the woods for our camping adventure!I have to say that I got it easy – When I arrived at Training Camp I actually had a choice between sleeping in my tent or in a cabin. I chose cabin (sorry to the ladies that didn’t have a choice! And sorry guys since you never had a choice!) but one night, my entire squad went camping without tents. We built a shelter out of tarps and a fire to keep us warm (and to cook our food) and it was AMAZING.
The fire that kept us warm & cooked our food 🙂After we ate, we sat around the campfire and one of our fearless leaders, Joel, told us to be silent and just listen to what God wanted to tell us. And after a time of soaking in the beautiful fall night that God had prepared for us, we started sharing one by one. Next thing you know, we were sharing our struggles with each other, crying & praying for each other. We went from being people that had just met a few days before to becoming a FAMILY in a matter of hours. People were set free from secrets that they had kept for years!! Totally liberating! I am SO excited that God hand-picked these people to be in my Squad for this journey!
There is FREEDOM in Christ – Will you let Him in? Will you stop clinging to the darkness and walk into the light?
