Hello Malaysia.
This month has been incredible so far. I want to give you a little glimpse of what my week might typically look like. We stepped into this month knowing that we were doing ATL ministry… meaning we ask the Lord for what he wants us to do/who to talk to everyday. This month looks different than previous months where we would have a ministry host telling us where to serve. It’s been beautiful to see prayers answered and we’ve only been here two weeks. Every day we go into the day asking Jesus to take us where he wants us. In the beginning I was asking Jesus to lead us to a body of believers that we can lift one another up, the first Sunday we went to a church called “Kingdom City” I felt like I was home with my church family, Greenhouse. It was so refreshing praising our great Father together and coming together in prayer over this nation. The spirit is moving there and through His people to reach the city of Kuala Lumpur. Another big prayer coming into this month was for us to make friends and connect them to the body of Christ who will be here long term unlike us…Jesus was just showing off now because he has been doing just that in such amazing ways.
Here’s a list of people to be praying over that we are interacting with every week:
– Linda: met her at a park (a park that came up in a listening prayer so we went) and since then we get dinner together, she even wanted to come to church with us this past Sunday! She came and we had great convos. She’s from Canada and is here for 6 months for work
– Mac: He owns the hotel “Le Viva Inn” that we stay at. We were praying for a place to stay that is within our budget and he loves having missionaries stay at his place so he cut us a huge discount. He is from a Christian, Muslim and Hindu background. So he has combined them all. You bet all our convos have been interesting. We sometimes sit and talk for hours about religion, culture, Jesus, and his life. He wants to start praying with us! Amen!
– Sami: She lives here at the hotel but is from Bangladesh and is here for school. Praying for more interactions with her. Will be getting dinner together soon.
– Muhammad: We crossed paths coming into our hotel and he was coming out of a club. Ever since then Steph and I will get dinner with him. He has been explaining his Muslim religion and how they pray/worship/read the Quran. Then we explain our beliefs. It’s great having people to just be able to respectfully discuss different beliefs with.
– Renu- We randomly sat at her table the other day while eating. We were just sharing what we were doing and what we believe and found out she is a new Christian. She’s having a hard time because her Hindu family has rejected her and she can’t find a job or friends. Please be in prayer for her as we meet her again tomorrow. She got connected with a lady here named Mindy who we met (Mindy runs a sex trafficking ministry here called “Redeeming Roses”)
Lord I pray that they be radically changed and brought into the faith family. That a deep desire sets into their heart that they will want to know who you are. That they may stay connected in a good group that will lift them higher to you. Lord may your kingdom be here in Kuala Lumpur like it is in Heaven. This place is so broken and confused. Lord, use the Holy Spirit inside all believers here to share your love and the Good news.
God has been blowing me away with His love for me and to see His love for the people here. Malaysia has 3 main people groups…Malay, Chinese and Indian. The main religion is Islam. We are in the Capital of Malaysia this month, Kuala Lumpur, its huge it makes me feel like I’m in Chicago. I love the country/nature so being here has been different for me, you can’t move on the streets without hitting someone else or cars. Boy do the cars love taking over the roads and they don’t stop for you. Our main transportation is the above ground train systems, the monorail.
What a typical week here might look like for me:
Sunday- church, hanging with new friends
Monday- rest day
Tuesday- Asking God to lead me wherever, worship/prayer night called Burn
Wednesday- Discipleship class with the ministry “Redeeming Roses” who works with women out of sex trafficking, meeting Renu for coffee then meeting Linda for Dinner
Thursday- 10 hour prayer day at this place called “The Boiler Room” (feel free to send me prayer requests) Meet Mindy at Redeeming Roses to pray over ministry and the women involved
Friday- Ask the Lord, Evening connect group with Kingdom City Church
Saturday- Met Mindy for ministry with the Homeless (fed, medical attention, pray, love, bible teaching, worship with the homeless people)
Praises:
