On my flight home from training camp, it finally hit me just how biblical the World Race truly is. We are leaving the same way Abraham left. We are leaving our hometowns, our states, our American comforts. We are leaving our parents, our relationships, our spheres of influence. We are stepping out with people who have absolutely no idea how our friends view us, how we fit into our surroundings. We are leaving with one identity–an obedient servant.
There are so many people today who don’t see the Bible as the Living Word of God, people who just think it is an outdated historical account–if that.
But if you’re in that boat, I challenge you to read Genesis 12. And then look at any World Racer. Because each of us is following God’s calling in our life. And His call hasn’t changed for His people over thousands and thousands of years.
We are stepping out of our safety nets, we are leaving behind comfortable couches and friends, we are giving up the right to toilet seat covers and clean fingernails. We are foregoing choice in food for eleven months. We are walking away from societal and clothing labels, so that we can be labeled as the only thing that matters–a child of God.

Like Abraham and the hundreds of racers before us, my V-Squad is joining in calling down Heaven to Earth. We step out in boldness with expectancy of seeing God’s Kingdom come. We are walking into the most biblical journey of our lives, knowing that our Big God is beaming at us, His children.
