Things I have learned this month:

  • God wants to use me to further His Kingdom.
  • Teaching English is very difficult when you don’t know the native language very well.

  • The market is really cool and you can barter prices.
  • My heart cries out for neglected children and adults.
  • My feet can get really dirty.

  • Guatemalan food is not very different from food I eat in America (fried chicken EVERYWHERE).
  • God wants us to seek Him before all things.
  • Sometimes people just need to talk.
  • Squatty potties are not that hard to use and it strengthens your leg muscles.
  • Painting is therapeutic.

  • Opening up about your past can be good even though you have already healed from it.
  • Don’t flush the TP.

  • There are places where people still offer sacrifices to Mayan gods.
  • I like café espresso ice cream. A lot.
  • Volcanoes are gorgeous.
  • God speaks to me in very intimate ways.
  • Guatemalans like owls, too.
  • God’s timing is perfect and I shouldn’t want it any other way.
  • Goodbyes are difficult, especially when children love you loving them.

  • I want to do ministry for the rest of my life.
