Today marks the 2 week countdown to LAUNCH.
For a long time, I have believed that missions isn't only foreign. The mission field can be right in your own backyard and in your community. There is so much opportunity to minister to people right around us and we don't all have to go around the world to be missionaries. We are all called to make disciples and preach the gospel. It doesn't matter if your ministry field is across the globe or across the street, we all have a purpose.
The past couple of weeks (since training camp, really) I have had a hard time living in the moment. I get so excited about what is to come (the race) that I have missed some wonderful opportunities to minister to those around me NOW. There is so much here to get excited about! The young adults at my church here in Fredericksburg are stepping out and seeking out new ways to do more. How amazing is that?! I am not sure how this is going to look yet, but I am excited to help be a part of it and see how we each grow through the process. This is the beginning of community.
In just a few short weeks, I will be reunitied with my squad and my teammates. I ask that you pray for all of us: the ones staying need prayers for guidance from God and the willingness to obey when they hear Him speak, the courage to step out and be set apart from the world, the voice to be heard when speaking out and living like Christ; and the ones leaving need prayers for guidance from God and the willingness to obey when we hear Him speak, the courage to step out and be set apart from the world, the voice to be heard when speaking out and living like Christ.
There isn't much difference in those staying here in this mission field and those of us leaving to go into a foreign mission field.
