I was walking around a Honduran street when I made eye
contact with this man.

I have become so accustomed to receiving funny looks or even
getting yelled at.  It is really
fun to have one of the girls with us and they get the opportunity to see how
many people whistle and yell at me!
It is quite flattering.

But I looked at this guy and he looked like he was just
completely pissed at the world and at life.  He was walking really heavily and had his head down pressing
forward.  He looked me in the eyes
and I smiled.  Sometimes there is
little to offer but a smile.

The guy storms pass the four of us walking, little side
carts feel the street, ragged and steel caged tiendas are all along the
street.  I keep walking and then
hear this yelling from behind.  The
man had stopped turned and yelled something.  I knew he was yelling at us.

I didn’t even bother to turn around.  I kept walking.  Rachel starts laughing, she was behind
me and came up and said, “Do you know what that man just yelled at you?”  I replied, “I don’t really care, he can
yell what he wants.”  Then she
looked at me and said, “No, you want to know this, he yelled, “God is Love!”” and
then he walked off.

A smile goes a long way; all it takes is the time to give
it.  Honestly I don’t know if that
is what caused the man to turn around and yell, but I do know that God taught
me a lesson and is teaching me that He is around every corner and in every
passer by.

How is that for a lesson!
