So check it out, in October I will embark on a journey to declare
the Gospel through words and actions on an AMAZING 11-month route. Yesterday, I got one part of my support raising tools and it is just an awesome reminder of who we are suppose to be in Jesus’ identity.
I
have made some green bands (favorite color) and am beginning to ask for
donations as I embark on this adventure with your prayers, love and
support. Below are images of the bands which incorporate three words,
one side says “Jesus Party” and the other side reads “δουλος” a greek
word pronounced “do-loss” meaning servant or slave.
The
phrase “Jesus Party” has come to represent our feelings towards
everything we do in life. If you have read any of my blogs this far, you have probably noticed that I have incorporated this phrase into about everything I have written. It’s one of those things that started as kind of a joke, we were watching “Wayne’s World” and they started saying party after everything (see below). Naturally, a few friends and I decided this was kind of a cool thing to start doing and it quickly became a habit. So we went to Passion 2011 in Atlanta and party quickly got turned into “Jesus Party“. So there’s the history in a nutshell, but what has it come to mean? This is kind of where we are coming from when we say “Jesus Party“. First of all, there is no activity or job that is below
Jesus. He came and socialized or partied with everyone from Jews to
Gentiles; we see this in all the times He broke bread or reached out to
those people that no one else would consider helping or extending a
hand. All throughout the Gospels, Matthew 14, Mark 3, Mark 5, Luke 5 and John 10-11 to name a few, we see Jesus socializing and so called partying with all kind of people and big things happened when Jesus came in contact with crowds or even just one person. To me that is a party within itself.. Even today, we should approach every job and activity with the
intent to give God all the glory and honor. No job, Nobody or Nothing
is below Jesus, so live up every moment like it IS a JESUS PARTY!
I have already kind of mentioned this word but to kind of hit it again, “δουλος”
has become a word that has stuck with me for a while now. We see in
about every letter written by Paul that he begins with this phrase
“δουλος ιησου χριστου“, meaning “servant of Christ Jesus“. It is very
powerful if we take the time to think about it. This word has become a
reminder to me about who I want to be in life. If I will muster up the
courage to truly reflect on it every day, then the impact can be
tremendous. Jesus came to serve, not be served and as true followers,
this is our call even today! It is not about us, it is about HIM! So
choose to be a δουλος of Jesus in everything you do.
have a small stock of these bands and can always order more, but I will
be selling them for donations to my trip. I can send these out if I need
too, but hit me up if you want one, there are two different sizes a
medium that fits a little big on my tiny wrists and a large that is a
little bigger!
