Hey Friends,

These past two months have flown by and I’m realizing that I haven’t provided y’all an update recently on what kind of work the Lord is doing here in Guatemala. So here goes

  • Twenty people are living in my house: we’re learning what it means to live in community with each other. That looks like having meals together, praying together, having grace with each other, being open with each other, the list goes on.

  • My team, the Watchmen, consists of 6 men: together, we are trying to find out what it means to be a man of God, and as the Lord reveals that to us, we call each other higher.

  • Ministry has been a little bit of everything: Our host, Luis, started us out with a house that needed to be painted. From there, we moved into a high school and taught values such as drug awareness, we also helped with some English classes to elementary students. We then moved on to helping build a house for a widow who has 9 children, we were at work on that for a month or so. Then school let out and we had the chance to take part in Luis’ first VBS, and that’s about to wrap up this week. With the month left we have two big projects: painting Luis’ minibus, Nissi; and building onto a house for a family in need.

  • Manistry: The men in my squad had the awesome opportunity to meet up for a week and live together and throw a football, make burgers, and have arm wrestling competitions. In that week, we had a World Race alumni hang out with us and pour into us, much like an older brother.

  • We went to a black sand beach: Halfway through our time here, my entire squad took a long weekend at a black sand beach in Monterrico, Guatemala for debrief. We took the time to evaluate how things have gone individually as well as how our teams have been. It was a nice opportunity to enjoy the ocean, relax, and reflect.

That wraps up some of the highlights from the first two months here. On December 7th, my squad will begin to make our way to Malaysia. The journey will go through Atlanta, New York for a 12 hour layover, Dubai, then we will arrive in Malaysia on December 9th.

Hopefully, I’ll be quicker to update y’all on the happenings on this Race next time.

God Bless,

Thomas
