I want to be remembered as someone who not only believes the Bible is true, but who puts the truth to practice. talk the talk and walk the walk, so to speak. that said, the Bible tells us to have faith, that God is a good God, that God loves his children and has compassion for us, and that we can do greater things that Jesus for those who believe (John 14). Miracles in the Bible weren’t just for Bible times, they are for today. For days such as Wednesday, October 6th. Mark 6: 30-43. Jesus is teaching, the crowd is hungry and the disciples want to send them away for food. Jesus says “You give them something to eat.” I’ve always wanted to see a cool miracle. Have you ever wanted that? Like, the cool “no way, that seriously just happened?!!” kind Wednesday morning 5 of us went to a feeding. They told us there would be 150 kids to feed. We make the food (add water to the ‘Kids Against Hunger’ to make an oatmeal looking food) and drive to an elementary school 30 min away. We had food for 150 students. When we arrive at the school we learn there is actually 450 students that need to be feed. haha oh boy They warn us to ration the food to make sure everyone gets feed. The 5 of us pray over the 2 bins of food. “Jesus, we know you are the God of miracles. We know that you took 5 loafs of bread and 2 fish and fed THOUSANDS. We are asking you multiply this food. Give us so much there is extra. we come with big expectations and have the faith you will do this. In your name, Amen.” Chelsea voices what everyone is thinking, “We’re not going to ration the food.” The students line up and we begin feeding: scooping the food out of the bins, out of the back of the van, in the middle of the elementary school courtyard. And we fill every bowl, cup, nalgene, plate… whatever they had to the very top. They all ate and were satisfied, Mark: 6:42 not only were all 450 students fed, students could come up for seconds. THAT is my God. after the feeding we got to go into classrooms and play with the students. Tara and I belted out “How He loves Us” to one room, and did the macarena (sp?) dance in another room 🙂 we had food for 150 students. we prayed, believed God would multiply the food because his word (the Bible) says he can & wants to do it. all 450 students were feed.
