How does this whole thing work?
I am on the September 2010 R Squad. What that means:
Squad – everyone signed up to leave in a certain month
R is the letter of the alphabet that got assigned to us (insert lots of pirate jokes *here*). The Q, R, and S squads were at training camp. The Q squad is the other September squad (there were so many of us signed up for September they split us into two squads!) and the S squad leaves in October. There are about 40ish people on the Q & R Squad, more on the S squad.
September 2010 R Squad
Teams – every squad is broken into teams of 6/7 people. Teams are decided by lots of prayer, lots of observations, and lots of team building activities. We got our teams halfway through training camp.
From those 6/7 people, one person in the team leader and one is the team finance person.
Each Squad has leaders and coaches.
The R Squad Leaders are: Tim Dixon and Di Dinnis. Tim & Di have both done the World Race before and they will be coming out with us for the first 4 months on the field leading us before new squad leaders from the R Squad are appointed.

The R Squad Coaches are: Gary & Joey McGinnis.
Gary & Joey will fly out to meet us on the field to 4 times throughout the Race. They are basically our spiritual parents through this and they are both pretty awesome people!
Some other questions I’ve been frequent asked:
No, I can not receive packages/letters on the field. The only thing I can receive is medicine and replacement bank cards.
I’ve been asked a decent amount about money, so here’s the breakdown:
I must fundraise $15,000. I must have $5,000 by the end of August or I do not launch in September with my squad. I currently have $4, 370 in my account, so if you’d like to support me, click the ‘support me’ button on your left J
Each person gets $460 a month. That is broken down into: $3.75 a day for food, $5.25 for lodging, $3 for transportation, $90 for long distance travel/visas, and $10 supplies/miscellaneous.
