I’ve heard it said that the top things that cause stress or anxiety in ones life are (in no particular order):

the loss of a loved one

         the loss of a job/career

         a wedding

         divorce

         relocating  (moving)

         financial troubles.

Imagine, if you can, being a parent for over 20 years and all the sudden your child is gone…not just moved away and you can meet for dinner and chat over brunch, but gone…..you’re no longer a parent……Who are you?

Perhaps you’ve studied for years to gain knowledge and achieve a position in a company or corporation and sudden the company ceases to exist…..you’re no longer an associate of that company……Who are you?

You’ve struggled all your life to make ends meet fiancially, you finally reach a point of financial security and the stock market bottoms out, money stops….you’re back at square one….Who are you?

or you’ve work hard to overcome a stronghold in you life, illness, addiction or bad past experiences; you gain respect and admiration of others for your accomplishments and suddenly you relocate to an area where no one knows of your struggles or accomplishments….Who are you?

you’re in a new location with a group of strangers with whom you have no history of experiences shared that will establish faith or trust in your new found family….none of you know the strengths and weaknesses of the other members of the body of people you now live in……..Who are you?

                              You’re a world racer!!!!!

In a world that esteems performance and financial success, it’s a challenge not to seek significance in what we accomplish or acquire in life. It’s not a sin to work hard and be rewarded for good work but it is important to remember Our worth rests on who we belong to, not what we do.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God (himself) prepared in advance for us to do.”
