There are many stray dogs in the refugee camp due tothe trash and just simply the living conditions. Being the educated Americans that we are, we recognize that without treating the dogs
fumigation would only be a short time fix. So we tried to think of ways to get the dogs treated or moved.

What to do? There is a lady in Chincha that does laundry, with a real washer and dryer for 12 S/ (about $4.00) a load. being the lazy americans and spoiled that we are a few of us took our laundry in. She has an iron gate across the front of her business and home, a yellow dog lays with his head through the rails to see all coming and going and to protect the lady of the house.

It turns out that she is associated wtih a group that gives free vaccines to dogs for worms, fleas, and other parasites. She said the people won’t do it . they say they are too busy, and not interested but when they give them a gift they are all of the sudden interested.

She and her group have been able to treat about 70 – 80 dogs in Tomba De Mora.
