“In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love, But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

I have met some people here in Tomba De Mora and instantly fell in love.

Hoesea the fisherman, who continues to live in a house comprised of tarps sewn together to create two rooms for he and his family of 4, months after the earthquake.

Anna & Hulda, they have 33 grand children and 6 great grandchildren.
Looking at them standing together telling about their family, glancing at each other it is easy to see they area as in love today as they were some 60 years ago when they said “I do.” they also have live in a house of tarps, with no cook stove, a leaky roof, and little food. Yet they smile and talk with pride and love.

Carol is 2yrs old. She was lying in her bed when the earthquake hit the little seaport paradise. The bed collapsed as did the walls around her. She has severe spinal damage. she can’t move her arms, or legs, she isn’t able to lay flat, Her mother tells us, she has seen a Dr in Lima but they have to delay surgery because Carol has Bronchitis so bad they are afraid to us anesthesia… Her breathing is so restricted that she can’t eat solid food…She lives on “Pediacare”, which is about $20 US (60 Peruvian dollars). They are struggling to maintain normal food as well.
I was showing Pictures on my camera to Pelar one of the girls we play with in the refugee camp, the other day and when we got to the pictures I’d taken at Tomba De Mora she stopped me and said “Me Casa” I’d unknowingly taken a picture of her house, rather the remains of her house.
These people need so much; food, clean water, decent, sanitary housing, and I feel so helpless all I can give is love.

“And he has given us this command: whoever loves God must also love his brother. If we sit quietly and do nothing how have we shown God’s love? Do we step out in perfect love, without fear’ share these stories hoping to expose their needs and make a difference.
