July forth it all begins, 10am I will board a plane headed to Georgia and say farewell to all those I hold most dear. Happy independence day America Ill see you in a year! The World Race begins with what they like to call Launch. Now upon hearing the terminology that was used for our sending off I was at first a little skeptical. Well to be honest my thoughts were what the heck is wrong with these people, cant they be a little more creative. I don’t want to “Launch”, I am not a rocket or a boat. So being the judgmental and over analyst that I am I googled the definition of what it means to launch.

launch [lawnch, lahnch]

verb (used with object)

1.to set (a boat or ship) in the water.

2.to float (a newly constructed boat or ship) usually by allowing to slide down inclined ways into the water.

3.to send forth, catapult, or release, as a self-propelled vehicle or weapon: Rockets were launched midway in the battle. The submarine launched its torpedoes and dived rapidly.

4.to start (a person) on a course, career, etc.

5.to set going; initiate: to launch a scheme.

Ok that got me really far, I am now totally prepared to “Launch” into the World Race….

Confused?

Yeah me too, but lets look a little further into definition 3 my personal favorite. “To send forth, catapult, or release, as a self-propelled vehicle or weapon.” Launch is a time designed to get together with my squad and finalize our preparation to leave the country for 11 months. So who is launching us? The cheesy answer here would be Jesus, when you don’t have a response Jesus is always an acceptable answer. But other than that the Adventures in Missions staff is launching us. They have spent countless hours pouring into us, preparing us as best they can for what is to come.

Now my squad (T-Squad represent!) is that self-propelled vehicle or weapon. We have been trained we have prepared our hearts and now we are ready to take a step out on our own. We are leaving our family, our friends and everything we know so that we can be a vehicle of the gospel.

So where are we launching, what is our goal? Yes I may have a tentative list of where I will be going but that is not the job of one being launched. I may not know where exactly I’m headed  or who it is that my impact will be on. But my heavenly Father, the one in control of it all does. He has the target locked on and He knows the ultimate result. Now it is my job to follow through listening to His command.

So I suppose that Launch is a pretty dang accurate description of what I am doing.

To send forth, catapult, or release, (World Racers) as a self-propelled (Gospel carrying) vehicle or weapon.”
