I am incredibly scattered right now. I had a great blog idea
about what I learned today. Then I got news that a huge 7.0 magnitude
earthquake has hit a place that is near and dear to my heart.
A little before 6pm EST a devastating earthquake hit just 10
miles southwest of the capital city, Port-Au-Prince. Reports say that the
initial quake was felt as far away as eastern Cuba and Santo Domingo, Dominican
Republic. Immediately following the initial quake two after shocks, both
measuring over 5.5 rocked the island. Aftershocks continue to rock the island
as I write.
Haiti does not have the infrastructure to handle an
earthquake of any magnitude much less a 7.0. This event has literally brought me to my knees in prayer.
One thing I can tell you I will be praying is that this brings the people of
Haiti to their knees before the one true God. Voodoo is a huge religion in the
entire country and I pray that this rocks these peoples souls to the point of
seeking a God who truly saves.

Tonight, I think of all the children who will roam the
streets looking for loved ones. My soul longs to be there to hold and comfort
them as I can only imagine how scared they are. I think of Claudia going to bed
by herself with thoughts of being shook out of her bed. I think of all the new
orphans that will soon realize their parents are dead and have nowhere to go.

This makes my heart desire to be in Haiti so much more. Part
of our lesson today had us coming up with specific goals. My goal was to be
working with an organization in Haiti who helps orphans by the end of the year.
This catastrophe makes this goal so much more real in my heart.
I told you
yesterday that I would be going to Haiti at the end of February. As of right
now that trip is still on. I also hope to have plans to move to Haiti full time
by the end of 2010. Please start praying to see if God would have you partner
with me in this venture.
This nation is obviously hurting and in need of Christ.
Let’s do something that can help them eternally.
