Hey everyone!

The Dominican Republic has been pretty amazing so far. The past week we have been in training in San Juan which ended this morning! I am ready to start our ministries already. This week we have been so busy trying to figure things out and it has been a little overwhelming so far but it will all change again tomorrow.

It is really hot and humid here and we walk everywhere so we are all really smelly and combined with the fact that we only shower every few days it makes us all the more stinky! Ive only taken 1 shower this week, hopefully another one is in store this afternoon!

The people here are very friendly and very laid back. Its been a fun transition. We have spent time exploring the city and food shopping which is an adventure in its own. Not a whole lot of choices here so beans and rice and either beef or chicken are our staple foods, although last night we were able to find stuff to make spahetti last night (thanks to Bekah!!) and it was great!!!

So for the next 3 weeks we are going to the mountains. Our team is going to be at Arroyo Cano working with a Mennoite church. We will be doing VBS, sports evangelism, working with local farmers, prayer walking and meeting families from the church. From the sounds of it we will be staying in our tents, using the river to bathe and wash clothes in and using an outhouse! FUN FUN! For the last 2 weeks we will be visiting 4 other smaller villages and staying with them for several days at a time. I am excited about the next 3 weeks, but it will also be challenging. We will have to come back into San Juan at least one time a week to stock up on food and write blogs, and the river showers are going to be chilly BUT I am looking forward to it being a bit cooler up there!

God has really done a lot this week and I am still processing a lot but God has totally shown up everywhere in HUGE ways! I will blog more when I have processed through it all.

Also, be on the look out for a blog series called ¨White shoe travels¨ The journey of my new white shoes, how far they have gone, and the color of them each month! Catch ya soon!
