Have you ever been in a queue? A really long line, say at an
amusement park? You get there and have all this excitement and then you see the
line. You think to yourself, “Man this is going to take forever, all I want to
do is ride the roller coaster.” You set off to find the right one and wait in
line. At this point the front of the line is so far away that you cannot see
it. You wait, and wait, and wait a little more. Then you suddenly move up and
are at the front able to count the number of people who are in front of you.
The next thing you know you are at the front! Now that didn’t take that long
did it? What happens next? Well I think you know, you get on the ride, climb to
the top and descend really fast!

This line represents my experience so far with The World
Race. In April when I was accepted I had 8 months until I would leave. I was at
the BACK of the queue. The July squad was at the front of the line and the
October squad was in front of me. I had a long time to wait.

Then the July squad got on the roller coaster and is on
their ride as we speak. Yeah I moved up a little. Still 6 months away. Still
the BACK of the line.

In August the October squad had training; they could see the
front of the line and were preparing to get on the roller coaster. Still, I
could not see the front of the line. I was in the BACK.

Today, September 27, I am at the FRONT of the line! The
October squad leaves at 2am tomorrow.
Which means my squad is next. We have training camp in 20 days! Then we get to
move to the staging area, the area where they shuttle you onto the roller
coaster.

Think about it. When you are at the amusement park, it
really does not take that long in the queue. It goes by a lot faster than you
would imagine.

My squad is the next to leave. WHAT?!?!? When did that
happen? I only have 3 months to finish up life here in the states and prepare
myself for 11 months on the roller coaster.

Stay tuned, there are only 20 days until we prepare to get
on the roller coaster!
