(I decided to post all my blogs so people arn’t confussed where I am and you all are caught up to date)

The second children’s home, Kondervarapalli, we visited was in a super remote village. There were about 200 people that live there. No running water, electricity for only a few hours a day, kitchen is on a fire outside…and these people had never seen Americans before.

We were greeted by a parade! It seriously was incredible. They had three men playing the drums, a boy dancing and then some village friends following behind. They made us long, yellow flowered necklaces.

I felt like I was in China again. Absolutely no English was spoken. In the previous village, there was at least a little. The previous village was safer as well, meaning that we could go to their homes and walk around. However at this village, it was not safe at all. We were not allowed to go to their homes. I had not felt unsafe but the restrictions limited my time in hanging out and getting to know people.

Most of the interaction consisted of me sitting with a group of them around me staring. I held their babies, tickled their children, but other than that, I felt helpless.

I just didn’t know what to do. Pray, smile, pray, smile, hold a child, pray again. Sometimes I have conversations with the people. They speak Telegu, I speak English…I had no idea what they were saying and they had no idea what I was saying. But we laughed, I talked about what I wanted to talk about, and they talked about what they wanted to…we just went with it.

One day, I went to a dam and one of the village girls came too.

“That is your girl. Love her. God whispered to me.

“Yay! I was so excited. God was gracious and let me do something!

It consisted of pretty much what I wrote up above. But now I had someone specific to focus on.

We held hands, giggled, smiled, walked here and there, and gave each other hugs. I got to love this beautiful girl for Jesus! When I am helpless, that is when God works! My next blog is all about boasting in weaknesses.

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 1 Timothy 1:12

“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. 1 Thessalonians 2:8
