Dear friends,
As I near the end of my college journey, my heart and mind are full of thankfulness and joy about what I have been learning both in the classroom and in the adventures of campus ministry. There is also excitement and curiosity about what comes next for me. I can’t wait to teach Special Ed. but I am not feeling peace about doing that right away. I spent much time with God asking Him what He has next for me, wondering, waiting, and wishing for peace for direction. A friend brought up this mission organization called, Adventures in Missions, which does an outreach called World Race. As I ran up to the computer to read about this World Race, my heart raced as I saw what it entailed:
· 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. CRAZY!
· World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. OH MAN! I GET TO EXPERIENCE THAT!?
· A team of 5 other people and me working together. CHALLENGING, BUT WHAT A COMMUNITY!
· Partnering with churches and ministries in local communities to share the good news WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE OVERSEAS?
· Planting churches, SO EXCITING!
· Running Bible education programs. YES PLEASE!
· Working in orphanages, (At this point my heart jumped 10 ft I thinkJ)
· Ministering to women and children who are impacted by human trafficking. WHOA BUDDY, HOW CAN I HELP?!
· Loving on people with special needs. RIGHT UP MY ALLEY!
· Working with the sick. NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE BUT EXCITED TO TRY!
· Bringing the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. OH MAN, WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR?!
I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am at the thought of being a part of all this. This is what I am passionate about. This is what God designed me to do. Was this my answer to my prayer? I wanted to sign up immediately, but the logical part of me stopped the extremely excited part of me and decided to pray about it and seek wise and godly counsel. Over the next months I sought God to see if this was His will for me. Many things happened that gave me doubts if I should really do this…Am I being selfish? What about family concerns? Is this really realistic? and so on. Through tears, scripture, and dear family and friends; God gave me incredible peace and excitement to go on this journey with Him that starts this September.
But I realize I cannot do this on my own. I am asking you to think about joining God and me on this trip. Over the years of participating in different mission trips, I have seen the incredible importance of both the givers and receivers and blessing of having a team back home supporting me in prayer and/or financial help. I have to raise $15,500 in order to do the World Race. This covers all the expenses on the field. Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donations, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. Any amount will help. If 25 people pledge $50 a month for 12 months, I would have 100 percent of the funds necessary for my trip. With prayer and/or financial aid you also can partner in this outreach. I understand some will not be lead to give; your prayers are just as vital.
Please make checks payable to Adventures In Missions and return the response card with your donation to Adventures In Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: teresaschellhause.theworldrace.org. Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.
I am elated to pursue this mission and see how God will move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year. I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Christ Jesus to nations around the world.
In Him who gives us opportunities to be a part of His master plan!
Teresa Schellhause
P.S. I would love if you would like to follow me on this journey. You can go to my blog at teresaschellhause.theworldrace.org to keep up with what is happening throughout the 11 months.
