Part 2:
Here are some more verses I found on what an “abundant life” looks like. This is part 2 of my previous blog, “Evangelism for Introverts”. Keep in mind that I was finding verses that I thought would translate the world’s view of an abundant life into God’s view of an abundant life. While talking to the people of Guatemala about the Lord, I want to be able to help them understand that while the world often views things like money, fame, power, good health, plenty of food, and entertainment as aspects of a good life, the bible shows us how the God provides these things and much more from a different, holier perspective.
More aspects of the real, abundant life (in italics), as seen through God’s Word:
- “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” –John 6:35
- “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” –Matthew 5:3-10
- “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed y sackcloth and clothed me with joy.” –Psalm 30:11
- “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.” -1 John 4:18
- “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” -2 Corinthians 3:17
- “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” –Isaiah 40:31
- “God presented him (Jesus Christ) as a sacrifice…to demonstrate his justice.” –Romans 3:25
- “I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.” –John 6:47
- “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” –John 15:13
- “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.” -2 Timothy 1:7.
I encourage you to reflect on your perspective of what “the good life” looks like. Does it align with God’s Word? If not, you are missing out on some of the biggest blessings life has to offer.
As a side note, I apologize for not putting any pictures in my blogs. I have tried and tried and can't figure out how to do it. I will try to get help from some friends soon in case you don't have facebook!
