My month in Cambodia was filled with beautiful little people with the biggest smiles, singing songs about the fruit of the Spirit!  We taught VBS to these little precious ones, and it was awesome!  I’ve never taught VBS before so this was a first for me.  The first week the theme was Living Water, so we told bible stories that involved water, and played games or did arts and crafts projects that went along with that theme.

The following week, we did the same thing with the Fruit of the Spirit theme.  By far, the highlight of my days was the bible skit.  We would perform a skit, and then all the little ones would all take turns reinacting the roles until everyone had a turn.  After watching and/or performing the skit 5-6 times, the story was apart of them, something they’ll always remember, something we’ll always remember!  The Word penetrated their little hearts, and I was grateful to be apart of that!  Something so small turned into something hugely rewarding!

At the children’s home, each of my team members also adopted” a kid of our own.  It was a special thing to have a child that looked forward to seeing you each day, and more then that, to have a child that we were looking for each day.  My heart was given to a little girl on our first day of ministry.  While in Cambodia I fasted and prayed over this little one.  That her days would be filled with freedom, that she would walk with Jesus every day of her life, and for the fullness of His fruit in her life.  It was hard to leave her and the other children, but I’m grateful for the moment of impact I have had on their lives.

So…the fruit of the Spirit isn’t a watermelon…but it’s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control…and I pray that this fruit is bore in all of the little children I had the pleasure of loving on last month in Cambodia.
