I am beginning to collect items from local businesses to use at a silent auction, and I don’t know what to give the businesses as a receipt so their donations are tax deductible. Can someone help me with this?

Becky I don’t know the laws on this but I don’t think just you can. You might try to get your church to sponser the auction, then people are giving to the church. Then the church sponsers you with the money that is earned. Does that make sense.
I know that my church is willing to do stuff like that. After all my support is raised for the race my church is going to open an account for me, for people who want to help meet any personal expenses while i’m gone. Then they will deposit the support that has come in into my checking account.
