Hi!

Let me take this chance to officially introduce myself.
I’m Laura Frankenfeld. I was part of the World Race 2006 Brown Team (laura.theworldrace.org, though I’m not a great blogger). The Race was the most amazing year of my life, but also one of the most challenging. I’ve heard stories of young men who hit growth spurts and have horrible joint pain in the process of becoming strapping young men. I would say World Race was a year of growing pains for me. The Lord took me on a fast track as far as character development and spiritual growth, which I’m incredibly thankful for, though the process wasn’t always fun!

Everyone’s favorite question is always what was your favorite part? I’ll tell you in advance, that’s a horrible question with an impossible answer! Every part is my favorite for one reason or another. But if you make me narrow it down, Guatemala and Thailand are the most beautiful countries I’ve ever seen. And India and Guatemala are where I was completely changed as a person. I guess since Guatemala makes the list twice, that might be my favorite!

Since coming home from the trip, life has been very exciting. I took a month to recuperate, not worrying about a job or what was going to happen next. I also spent 3 weeks with a guy named Corey Jacobs and got engaged on New Year’s Eve. We’ll get married June 22, and if any of you girls want the whole story, I’ll be happy to email it to you! A week after we got engaged, Corey left to finish his time as AIM staff in the Dominican Republic with the FYM program, and I went to Palenque, Mexico to help train the current World Racers.

Coming home from that was difficult, as I know foreign missions is my calling and I definitely wanted to travel with the Racers again! I began to shop around for jobs, but was frustrated at the need to “just earn money” doing something I cared nothing about. That’s when Serena called. I now work full-time for World Race helping with applications, interviews, recruiting and training.

Which brings me to the reason for this introduction. I am your official contact person for the preparation process. Though Serena, Joy, Sarah, and the whole World Race team will continue to email and blog with you, you can direct all questions, stories, comments, and general hellos toward me to help streamline the process.

The best way to contact me is through email. I work on my computer Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from about 8-5 and Tuesday and Thursday from 1-9. But I am pretty much logged in all the time. My email address is worldrace2006 (at symbol) gmail.com. I have no problem giving you all my phone number, though not through this highly public blog. Feel free to email me and I’ll send it to you. I do still live at home with Mommy and Daddy (life is so much cheaper this way!) until I get married in June, so I might not be the one answering the phone.

I am so excited about this process of preparation with you and I look forward to meeting you all in April at training!

For His glory,

Laura
