Atlanta (8 hours)
-It wasn’t intended to be this long, but Delta’s computers ALL shut down. My heart hurt so bad for the employees of Delta who were stressed, panicked, probably wanting to cry inside or wishing it was their day off. It was so incredible to watch the kindness of my squad* positively affect and change the workers day.
-Our flight although very delayed was rescheduled and took off.
-Many flights were cancelled however, so we were definitely in the hands of God. Rescheduling 51 people for a minimum of one flight would have been a nightmare for the logistics team (bless them!!!)

Atlanta —> JFK (2 hours)
-slept

JFK (6 hours)
-Wrote a blog.
-Had SHAKE SHACK for the first time and let me tell you…YUUUMMMMMM! Definitely a great choice for a “last meal”
-Called family one last time to say “love you”! Not knowing when I would get wifi next.

JFK —> Dubai (13 hours)
-slept, but also flew Emirates and it was glorious. These flight attendants know how to take care of their customers!
Layover in Dubai (11 hours)
-Went on a city bus tour. Oh my goodness people this place is just as incredible as the pictures!!! Had so much fun and staying awake all night was not a problem at all.

Dubai —> Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (11 hours)
-slept

Leaving Abidjan Airport (4 hours)
-This was the most interesting, hilarious, terrifying experience. Interesting: people (hosts in particular) don’t believe you when you say your pack is the size of half a human…IT IS! Hilarious: no one knew what was going on, and it was a hot unexpected mess (not temperature wise though, it’s pleasantly cool here). Terrifying: bags were not fitting in the vans, because they had NO trunk. Before we knew it they were being thrown on top of vehicles and tied on with some pretty below par/sketchy string. I am shocked they made it. I choose the safe option when it arrived without a moment to spare and stuffed tightly into a very small taxi.

Total travel time = 51 hours
