Hello. Hello!
The last couple of days at launch I have been learning and doing all the things*!
But today is the day I actually leave on a plane, for real, for Cote d’Ivoire, and let me tell you…I am feeling all the things! This time I will elaborate 😉 I will share my fears, my excitements and a really incredible story!!! Ohhhh and also some prayer requests!
BUT SERIOUSLY IF YOU READ NOTHING ELSE READ THE STORY!
Fears first, because let’s just lay it all out there.
-That people won’t understand me when I get back.
-That something could actually happen to me physically.
-That I’ll have to really depend on others…which I do poorly.
-Saying bye to people at the end of each month.
-Missing an opportunity God has laid before me.
Excitements! Yippee!
-All the relationships I’ll make/build.
-The growth God will walk me through.
-The way God will work in the lives of my family and those I love back home.
-The wisdom I will hopefully gain. hehe.
-The person I will become.
-All the adventures.
STORY TIME! (Yes, this is the best!)
My family, as well as some of my mom’s family, was at the lake for my last weekend out there. Naturally, Trey and I somehow retreated to my room and are just hanging out and talking. You know, quality bonding time…probably discussing trashy TV shows like “are you the one?” and how he is going to keep me updated while I’m gone. When all of the sudden, I felt a nudge from God. The Holy Spirit was saying, “ask Teagan, ask.” My immediate response to the Holy Spirit was, “you have got to be kidding, right?” Then again, “ask Teagan, ask.” I knew exactly what He was wanting me to ask.
Back Story: At training camp I heard a story from a speaker, Deon. He had prayed over a man’s eye and after 7 times the man could see again. Crazy!? Yeah I know, I thought the same thing, till I thought OH MY GOODNESS! What if Trey could see again?! My mind was racing, and I knew I needed to start praying over Trey’s eye. (My thought process: What a cool testament of the Lord’s power and goodness, Trey will have no choice but to believe and why the heck not try) May sound creepy but it was my only option so I began praying over Trey’s eye while he was sleeping or whenever I passed his room.
Back to our lake weekend, we are sitting in my room and I casually say, “Hey Trey, I have a question for you.” Trey in an oh boy what will it be this time tone goes, “Yes Teagan.” So I casually ask, “ Can I pray over your eye because maybe God will heal it.” Without a moment to spare Trey replies, “Teagan, you are whack!” To which I reacted (in my head) with “ahhhh, what the heck Lord, that wasn’t what I was expecting, what the heck!” I calmly asked again, “Are you sure? What if it works? Can I just pray one sentence?” Clearly negotiating at this point. To which Trey calls in reinforcements. He calls my mom, I call my cousin. He retells the story to the both of them and looks to my mom for reassurance that I am certifiably crazy. To which she says, “Why not let her try, what if it works?” My cousin exclaims, “Yeah, why not? I have seen people be healed before!” So at this point Trey is coming around to the negotiating. He asks questions like what will I do and say. I explain I will just put my hand over his eye and pray ONE sentence. He eventually, after much persuading, comes around to the idea.
Later that same day I find my glasses, that I have been praying to find before I leave. Then in the car (Trey driving, my cousin in shotgun and me in back…not sure how this happened since it’s my jeep) I found my favorite necklace and excitedly shout out, “OH MY GOODNESS THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SO PRESENT RIGHT NOW!!!” Now the Holy Spirit was clearly probably not like, “wow I really want Teagan to find her fav necklace or glasses”, but it was what I needed to feel like now is the time to pray for this eyeball! So I tell Trey that I want to pray right now. To which he responds, “nope I am driving I won’t be able to see.” I say you can’t see anyways! He couldn’t argue with that. So, sitting right behind him, I reach around and put my hand over his eye and lean towards the opposite ear to pray. I began to pray…I snuck in quite a few “extra” sentences, but he couldn’t really stop me. After I prayed, Trey was still very much blind in that eye. Hope is not lost though. I prayed for God to heal it right then, in a week, month, year, His call- just heal it.
A few days later, Trey was telling the story to a friend, but I stepped in to tell it. HEHE I prayed over his eye again as an example in my story. Then a couple days before I left for Atlanta, Trey needed a favor and as a bargaining tool he said I could pray over his eye one more time if I did it…so I decided it was a deal and prayed over him one last time before I boarded the plane to Launch.
Trey’s eye is still not healed; however, we have an incredibly faithful and powerful God! He has healed, He is healing and continues to heal. And I trust in Him.
Although for now this blog comes to an end, Trey’s story will continue on. Prayer is continuous and powerful. God hears our prayers and I believe He may choose to answer this one to further His Kingdom and create a powerful testimony.
P.S. Trey has been checking to see if he can see. The seed has been planted 🙂
Prayer Requests:
-Safe travels and no luggage problems.
-Open heart for opportunities God has placed before me on hectic travel days. That I would take a moment…many moments…to be aware and present.
-For Trey’s left eye to be healed and his vision restored.
-To walk humbly and with grace, loving others well.
Thank you to all my supporters and people reading my blog for not only reading it but praying for this journey I am on with Christ!
love you all,
Teags
