Picture update: Robby let me borrow his camera when we toured the earthquake damage in Tambo de Mora.. here’s a couple pictures I was toying with…

We landed at the Lima airport at exactly midnight on Sunday, stayed that night in a hostel, then spent all of yesterday racing to Chincha. We ran all over downtown historical Lima checking out some amazing buildings, such as the Governor’s Palace and the Lima Cathedral. We then caught a taxi to the Parque de Amor.. a “Park of Love” that was on a cliff overlooking the ocean. After walking down what felt like 10,000 steps, we picked up some rocks from the beach (part of our race requirement!) and hiked all the way back up. We caught another taxi to Borroco, where we tried some local Peruvian food (Dominoes Pizza) and then headed to Cañete to catch another taxi up into the foothills of the Andes; a little town called Lunahuana. Our team was the first to get there, and were immediately handed helmets and paddles. We were thrown into a raft and proceeded to raft a couple miles down level 4 and 5 white water rapids. After taxiing back to Cañete, we rode a bus to Chincha, where we were finally taken to the church. We set up our tents at about 10 last night (I practiced setting it up at home, but I had not practiced in the pitch dark!), and after a little difficulty, finally got it up. The day was AMAZING, except for getting one of my bags stolen. I no longer have a Visa, Passport, driver’s license, shot record, iPod, credit/debit cards, any cash, or my camera. Basically, everything you DON’T want to lose. I figure the Lord has got a lesson for me to learn, and He isn’t wasting any time getting it started!!! From what I understand, I should be able to get most of the paperwork re-done, I’m just pretty bummed about the camera : (

I’m headed back up to Lima tonight to stay with some AIM people so that we can head to the embassy in the morning and at least get the passport/visa re-ordered (Lord willing!). Please be praying that everything goes well with that, as well as the re-ordering and mailing of bank cards and driver’s license!

Later on, I’ll upload some pictures that my teammates have taken of our “campground” and yesterday’s race down the coast. Hopefully I’ll get a pic of the goats that are directly next to my tent. I was worried yesterday because I had forgotten to bring an alarm clock, but that definitely worked out just fine… bleating goats at 6am work just as well, if not better. Not to mention, they don’t require batteries.

Miss you all very much! Keep up the prayers!
