It is November 3rd… officially less than 2 months until departure.
I’ve been running that through my head since I woke up this morning, and I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it. One part of me is bursting with excitement and wishes that I could just stop waiting and leave tomorrow, while the other part of me is wishing that I had so much more time. The preparation for this trip is overwhelming, and not exactly what I had expected. I have thoroughly enjoyed crossing things off my checklist as I get ready to go.. but often feel overwhelmed at how much I still have left to do. I was not expecting to struggle so much to get my heart and my head prepared!
I guess I thought that I would be so full of anticipation that the little things wouldn’t really bother me. Last week, Nels took me to see a movie, and as we watched the countless previews prior to the start of the movie, one of them caught our attention. It was right up our alley, one of those “have to see it” kind of movies. Nels whispered, “That one looks really good, we’ll go see it as SOON as it comes out!”, and no sooner had he said that, “COMING SPRING 2008” flashed onto the screen.
It may sound puny and irrelevant, but it crushed me! I immediately started thinking through every little thing I’m going to miss next year; 3 weddings, 2 births, a friend’s graduation, a new CD coming out from my favorite artist. .. and the list kept going.
But when I started to analyze my growing mental list of “Things I’m ‘gonna miss next year”, I realized how silly it must look next to God’s list of “Things I have planned for next year”.
Why pout about something so small when I could be thanking the Lord for the amazing stuff I know he has already planned for next year? How about I thank Him for everything He’s doing RIGHT NOW??? Praise Jesus : )
Here’s the current update:
– still don’t know the exact date of departure.. somewhere between 12/30 and 1/2
-quite possibly will change, but looks like we’re going to start in Peru
– 2/3’s of the way to my support raising goal!
Here’s some of my stuff…
My pack… the Arc’Teryx Briza 75 The North Face Tadpole 23 The Kilo Plus Sleeping Bag

Please be praying that the Lord would continue to strengthen and grow me in Him as I prepare to go, that the remaining funds will be raised, and that He will be preparing the hearts of those that I have yet to meet!
All my love,
Teagan
