It's here.
My race is beginning.
Quite frankly, I've been running for a long time. Running towards something that appeared to be elusive, something that I felt would make me happy. I ran towards relationships, ran towards money, ran toward my career. Still, emptiness. THEN that something found me. By that something I mean God. He found me and completely transformed me. God has done so much for me, that simply dedicating a year of my life to serve him and others, is not even enough to say "thank you."
I want to say THANK YOU once again to everyone who has prayed for me, encouraged me, and supported me financially. I want to thank all the anonymous donors as well since I don't have info to send my thank you note. A big shout out to the anonymous donor who gave $5,000! I'm still at a loss of words at such generosity. You may have done this in secret "but the Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you" (Matt 6:16). I did some math, with other donations I'm aware have been sent I can't believe I AM FULLY FUNDED even before I leaving! I'm still in awe that in two months of fundraising God has provided over $16k. Wow. God never ceases to amaze me. I pray that as you all have been a blessing to me, God will bless you tremendously! Now, I know some of you are so excited that I'm now funded but a bit disappointed because you still want to contribute. Please don't be sad, you can still support God's work by being a blessing to one or many of my teammates who are still in the process of raising their funds. Click on this link and you will be directed to all members of my squad. Take some time to peruse their blogs, read their stories, and support them. We're all running this race together!
I had the opportunity to spend some time with my awesome law school friend, Wei, and she shared with me her experiences in Uganda. In regards to mission Wei said "you'll see more than most people experience in their entire lives. You just can't come back and ignore it." It was bittersweet leaving home but when I think of what's ahead of me I am filled with excitement. My squad and I will be leaving in a few days for our first country – Guatemala. Please continue to keep us in your prayers, subscribe to my blog if you haven't already. I'm looking forward to sharing with you awesome stories about healing, restoration, redemption, and love. God is going to do incredible things this year. And I'm so humbled to be running with him.
