FUNdraising in so not my forte. I'm really not sure why it has the word FUN in it. I was never a girl scout but I am a primary consumer of Samoa cookies from the girls 🙂 …I've always been very independent from a very young age and find it very difficult to ask other for financial help. But I know fundraising is all part of the experience of this journey and something I need to do. So if I have to experience the awkwardness of asking for help (like how I'm feeling now as I write this post) all for God's glory – I will. I see this as an opportunity to see God move in a BIG way. To see God do the impossible and use people to accomplish His will for me. With that said, this trip cannot happen without your help. (I think I'm supposed to post up my support letter here, but it's way too long so I'm just going to give a synopsis) If you would like me to send you a support letter, please click on the contact me link and let me know. Happy to send that to you!
To participate in the World Race, I need to raise $16,260 which covers my expenses during the 11 months on the race. It sounds daunting! I know you should have seen my expression when I found out. I know God who has called me is faithful and will do it! The cost includes training, lodging, airfare, food, and other necessities. There are some key deadlines I have listed below in which I have to have those amounts in my account by that date. Yes I know the first deadline is so soon, but even though I'm just coming into the group, I still need to meet them.
Key Financial Deadlines:
|
June 29 |
August 18 |
November 30 |
Feb 28 |
|
$3,500 |
$6,500 |
$11,000 |
$16,260 |
There are a few way you can give. Every little amount and gesture goes a very long way!!!
MONEY
You can support by giving a one-time donation or a monthly pledge. Click on the "Support Me" tab on the left of my blog and you can make either a one-time donation or sign up for monthly donations for however long you wish. Monthly donations should have an end date of 3/1/2014 as I need to be fully funded 6 months into my trip. All donations are tax-deductible. To cut out the online processing fees use dynapay for your monthly donation straight from your check account OR write a check to "Adventures in Missions" with "Fatokimi Temitayo" in the memo line and mail it to:
Adventures in Missions
PO Box 534470
Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
*Please do not write the check out in my name*
I'm planning to have more fundraisers soon (i.e. garage sales, T-shirts sales, benefit dinner, comedy show? (maybe)). Stay tuned for those.
SPONSORING
When you sponsor a child through Food for the Hungry, AIM will donate $50 towards my World Race! If you choose to sponosor a child (which I hope you do) in one of the countries I will be serving (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Mozambique), I may have the opportunity to meet your child. How awesome is that!! Click on the banner to the left that says "Support Your World Race"
TRAVEL GEAR
The $16,260 does not include travel gear such a tent, daypacks, sleeping bag, sleeping bad, sleeping bag liner, etc… If you would like to commit to helping with any of these, please let me know by clicking on the link that says "contact me" on the left bar.
LESSONS
If you're the outdoorsy type and want to give me a crash course on how to:
- pitch a tent
- make fire
- climb a tree
- catch fish with my bare hands
I'm totally open to lessons. FREE lessons 🙂
Also don't forget to subscribe to my blog by putting your email address in the box to the left. It would be SO nice to know that you're reading and I'm not just talking to myself (which happens quite often)
With Love,
