“There is no such thing as taking a leap of faith, we are called to live a life of walking in faith.”
This is a quote I recently heard from a pastor I was listening to. It shook my whole way of thinking when it comes to trust. Trust isn’t about taking “Leaps of faith”, its about living in faith, every moment seeking God and his will for your life.
The more I think about this concept, the more it makes sense. There is no such thing as arriving at the ultimate level of trust, trust is a constant state. We have to be constantly trusting God, sometimes its harder to trust than others but to seek after God means we are always trusting HIm. Not when its hard or we are doing something “big”, but in our everyday lives.
Apart from walking in faith are we really seeking after God? Why do we think we need to only trust God or walk in faith when we are going through something we cant handle on our own? Is there really anything in life that we can successfully handle on our own?
God is always with us, always working in our lives, and we get the privilege of sitting back and letting Him do his thing. All we have to do is move when he says move.
How awesome is it that God doesn’t expect us to do anything on our own? He gives us a promise in scripture that says, “I will never leave you or forsake you, I will be your helper.” Hebrews 13:5-6
God knows that in our flesh, we are completely incapable of doing anything on our own, so he gives us encouragement that He will take care of us. What? I don’t have to figure everything out and walk in it alone? Great! Then why do I?…
God is faithful. All He asks of us is to love Him and follow His commands.
I don’t want to seek God when I’m tired and need help or lonely and need a companion, I want to be so in love with Jesus that I just rest in His presence and move when He says move. the end. there is no, well now Gods calling me to Go on an 11 month mission trip so I am going to “take a leap of faith”. It should be more like, God I love you and trust you every moment, and now I’m going to love you and trust you every moment while I plan for this trip that you are calling me to.
I am realizing more and more that this trip isn’t some grand step towards righteousness, I am made righteous because Jesus died for me. This trip is simply me walking where God calls me to walk, moving when He says to, following after my Savior. It would take the same kind of action not to go, trusting Gods plan and knowing He has me where I am for a reason and is using me to bring him glory and advance His kingdom.
How cool is it that we can live a life of walking in faith because God knows what He’s doing? thats what makes me excited about this trip, the fact that God is choosing to let me take adventures and share the gospel all over the world.
God calls us each to different lifestyles and careers. Nothing is more important than the other, we all get the opportunity to love and serve God exactly where He has us.
Im looking forward to learning so much more about trust in God as I live a life of walking in faith!
