Well here it goes…my first blog post.
So here’s a little about Me…
My name is Taylor Nicole Ruckel. I am a 20 year old from Oklahoma City.
I have 4 siblings. 2 older sisters, a younger brother and younger sister. Even though my brother and I are nearly 4 years apart, I would consider him my best friend. I am also close with all of my sisters and am blessed by their friendship and love for Jesus.
I have recently become a first time aunt to my oldest sisters sweet baby Henry.
Both of my parents are strong believers and such a great example of a godly marriage.
I love being active and adventurous even though I have very little opportunity to do so. In my free time I like to make things, paint and spend time with friends.
I graduated high school in 2012 and have since been seeking where God wanted me to go next.
For the last 7 months I have been working at a clothing store in the outlet mall near my house and am currently holding a part time manager position.
Last summer I went on a 2 week mission trip to Zimbabwe, Africa that was life changing. Not only was it just an all around amazing experience but it confirmed for me the calling on my life to go into the world and proclaim the gospel. Neither before or since had I done anything as incredibly adventurous…until now 🙂
I played basketball for 8 years. This last school year I had the opportunity to coach a middle school girls team for a school my church has been partnering with. That was an awesome experience to not only get to teach the sport I love but to set an example of Christ for these girls that are surrounded by such darkness.
I have a heart to disciple young girls to become strong women of God and am blessed that God has given me opportunities to live out this calling.
I am currently discipling a middle school girl named Julisia. Its been over 3 years now since we met and began this relationship. I have not only been able to encourage her, but I have also grown closer to the Lord through our relationship. It has definitely not been easy but God has been faithful and I continue to see Him working in her life and drawing her closer to himself.
I have grown up in a baptist church my whole life and been involved in church camps and childrens ministry for as long as I can remember. I have always loved being a part of serving the church and community around it but promised myself at a young age that I would never do anything that required me to leave the comfort of my lifestyle.
But God has a bigger plan. 3 years ago He called me to be a part of reaching the world for Christ.
I have always considered myself below average and unworthy of any great calling or mission. But God continues to show me that with Him I am loved, forgiven and called to be a part of His purpose and kingdom building.
I am so excited for this next season of life that God is bringing me to!
