Yesterday my team and I had the privilege to go to a small village outside of Antananarivo. This was my first time outside of the city so I didn’t really know what to expect. We got on a bus at 6:30 in the morning and four and a half hours later we finally made it.
I looked around at all of the rice fields and the rolling hills. It was beautiful. I was caught up in the beauty of it that I hadn’t really set my focus on what we where going to be doing that day. Little did I know that God was going to open my eyes to see his beauty in this village through his people.
We did home visits with a church that they are building there in the beginning of the afternoon. These homes are made out of mud and bricks. Some where extremely small with one room with a bed and the kitchen all in one. Others had a bed room and a separate room. They where all pretty small.
We walked into the homes and shared the gospel with them and prayed with them. It was a huge blessing to both the family and my team as well. I had the opportunity to pray for healing for some of the people struggling with various health issues which was cool to see God use me in that way!
Later that afternoon we told them all to gather at 2:00 so that we can share our stories with them. We sang some songs with the kids and did a skit showing that sin might weigh us down but God can lift those sins off of us and we can walk with him.
I shared my story with the village and told them that even though we make mistakes through life God loves us just the same then as he does now. He loves us through our mistakes and through our trials. He wants to have a relationship with us. It was amazing!
I had the opportunity to meet the chief of the village. He was a very sweet man. He was the one who invited us to come pray over his village.
I have never felt more alive after ministry like I did yesterday. Seeing the joy on these peoples faces even when they hardly have anything. It really shoves things into perspective. It reminded me of where my joy really should come from. My joy is from the Lord.
He has set a fire in me that I pray will never go out. I pray that it will only grow into a blazing fire that shines his light and love everywhere I go no matter what life throws my way.
This month might of had its hard times in the beginning but I have seen my joy in the Lord grow in ways I can’t even explain!
This is only month three people!! There are 8 more amazing months to follow!
