Month Eleven. I can’t believe its here. Wait, scratch that. Not only is it here, but it is almost over. I only have three days left of World Race Ministry.

My team and I have been determined to give this month our all and not check out early. Honestly, that has been fairly easy to do since we are doing a lot of different things this month. Some days we are teaching English class, which I have to admit it my favorite form of ministry here. Some days we are passing out food to children that their sponsors bought. Some days we go to villages and pass out food, pray, and make some kind of art project with the kids. Some days we play soccer, (not well, I might add) and then one of us will preach and pray with the kids.

What I really want to talk about though is English class. The students are incredibly smart, driven, eager to learn and participate, and happy. I am pretty comfortable teaching. I taught before the race and a lot of ministry on the race has been teaching, but these students make it even easier.

They are up for anything. One day we built a maze out of desks to review directional terms. The students each had a partner and one student would call out “left, right, step over, foreword, under, and up” and their partner would keep their eyes closed and listen to the directions to get out of the maze. It was so much fun.

Another class period to review adjectives we had the students pick a partner and they each had to write a song describing their partner and come up to the front to sing it. I was a little afraid that they would be shy and not want to do it, but they got really into it! Some rapped, some had the class make a beat, and some really sang their little hearts out. It was one of my favorite days.

As much fun as class has been, I am realizing how much more they are than just students. They are not only El Salvador’s future, but the worlds. They have a heart on fire for God. One student shared his story with us and it filled my heart with so much joy. He was battling addiction and some other dangers in El Salvador when he met the Lord. Now, he comes to English class not only to learn, but to share with others what God has done in his life. He talked to the class about the importance of following God wherever he calls you, even if you are scared or don’t want to.

They understand how important a relationship with God is. A few days ago at the end of class they asked us how to get involved with the race. They asked us what the process is like, what fundraising is, and how we did it. Whether they go on the race or not, I know that class is full of missionaries that want to see the world know Christ.

That has been so unbelievably encouraging to me. It seems everyday we are hearing about something tragic that happened somewhere in the world. It is easy to think there is more bad in the world than good. But friends, let me tell you that is not true. There is a generation rising up. A generation on fire for God. A generation that wants to bring kingdom to earth. I’ve seen it firsthand. If you don’t believe me, come join us for English Class. Meet these students. See their hearts and their love for the Lord. Then you’ll see, they are going to do amazing things for the Lord.
