hello! My name is Taylor, and I am a 17 year old pursuing the calling God has on my life in missions! I have been doing missions since I was 13 and have had a passion for it since I was 9. Throughout the years God has taught me a lot about myself and his purpose for me through my home church that I have grown up in in Southern California. I have been passionately serving in youth ministry since I was 10, and now I am leading my second small group of high school students. I also have a huge love for art, specifically painting. I have been painting since I was 7, and God has really been able to show me how powerful art can be when communicating within a culture that doesn’t share the same language. I have been able to use art therapy to communicate and learn about the people I encounter in Kenya, Uganda, and Mexico.
I have a large family with 5 siblings, I have four brothers and one amazing twin sister who has always supported me even when I leave her for long periods of time (which I know she doesn’t like). everyone is curious to see whether we are similar at all, and the truth is that we are not. At. All. She loves science and Math and I love art and English. But I truly am blessed with an amazing sister who has stuck with me through my darkest days, especially when our parents divorced when we were 10 years old.
I grew up in a Christian household, but once I turned 10 that household split into two completely different environments. However, through time God has given me a new perspective of gratefulness for my two separate families. They have each taught me so much in different ways and have both always supported me in missions, which has been the biggest blessing. Now with the world race, my family and friends and church family are my biggest encouragement, and I could not begin this journey without them by my side. I cannot wait to experience three very distinct cultures and I cannot wait even more to see how God moves and reveals himself while I am on the mission feild!
