Tonight I met a man and wife who need Jesus.

In the slums, it was clear God wanted us there on a Saturday night.  Our team walked to a church to pray with a family.  But I saw a man sitting on his doorstep.

He was waiting.

He just didn’t know it.

God told me that he was waiting to hear something I had to say.

I knew it was urgent.

After some prayer and encouragement to people inside the church, the Lord prompted me to walk outside.

I asked the pastor with us if I could go speak with the man.  One of his neighbors that started the church came with me and I asked a friend, Alicia, to join.

My heart was so happy.  I greeted him by saying “namaste”.

“Ninna hesaru eenu?”

What is your name?

Then I responded,

“Nanna hesaru Tayler.”

His wife came out of nowhere.  I’m so glad she did.

We walked into their home as I asked, “Do you know the gospel of Jesus Christ?”

In the back of my mind I was hoping they would say yes so that I could just pray and leave.  But they had never heard the good news.

I looked at Alicia and asked if she wanted to share the gospel with them.  She is my elder friend from England.  I immediately assumed she could tell them about Jesus more eloquently.

She prompted me to just speak.  My heart began racing.

I told myself, I am here on a Saturday night in this specific slum for a divine reason.  God told me to come here to their home, not Alisha.  I must be the one to tell them about the man who saved my life.

This is what I shared:

Just last year I began really pursuing a relationship with Jesus.  I grew up in church, but because of sin in my heart I grew further away from Him.

Just as sin is in India, it is also in America.

I went through times of confusion and depression.  Then God revealed Himself to me.

Tears welled up in my eyes.  Then began streaming down my cheeks.

I couldn’t speak.  The tears spoke for themselves.

Then Alisha began to explain that I was crying as a result of Jesus.

His love.

How much He cares.

And that He is why I am in their home.

I realized I needed Him.

He changed my life.

And He wants to change yours.

He doesn’t want me to tell you anything else, except for me to ask you if you will go to church tomorrow.

They both simply tilted their heads side to side, indicating “yes”.

I sighed in relief.

If we will simply just say “yes” to Jesus when He asks us to do something, He can use us so much more.

Don’t let fear take over.

Just let Jesus take over.

Let Him control your words.

Let Him control your actions.

Be obedient so you can give Jesus room to work in your life.

“So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives.  Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing.  You didn’t know any better then; you do now.  As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life… Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. “ 1 Peter 1:13-18, MSG
