I know that sounds like such a cliché title, but I can’t
help it…PRAYER IS POWERFUL. This
month we have been working at an orphanage/drug rehab center. Tending to 150 children from ages 2-16,
Jose and Vanda do it with little help.
As recovering drug attics themselves, sometimes I feel as if they are
just trying to stay above water.
The day we arrived to work with them all of us felt a
heaviness hovering over the Remar Center, something unexplainable and
overwhelming. After a couple days
working there, we became under heavy spiritual attack. We were kept from sleeping, nightmares
occurred and the life was being sucked out of us. As we stayed back to spend time in prayer, the Lord revealed
much to us. He revealed to us that
the Remar Center is being suffocated by confusion, fear, past abuses, rejection
and perversion. These were the
things we could feel upon walking through the gate.

Although we have been in prayer about those things and God
has lifted off some of that heavy spiritual covering, that is not what I want
to share about, but rather I want to tell about one specific indecent. As we travel to various places our
ministry looks different everywhere.
This month we had the opportunity to let Jose, Vanda and their own
children leave for the night and get away, a family night out. Jose and Vanda briefed those who would
be staying before they left on general house rules, etc. They also mentioned that a couple girls
had experienced heavy spiritual attack over the past few nights and to be
aware.
I know to some this might sound like I have lost my mind,
but it’s truth. Spiritual warfare
is real and it’s very apparent here in Africa. Africa is a country heavily immersed in witchcraft and
ancestor worship, thus bringing a whole different spiritual climate to the
table.

So, the girls would wake up in the middle of the night
feeling as if something was choking them, they literally would have trouble
breathing. Jose and Vanda told us
that a couple of them had recently given their lives to Christ and believe that
some of their family members had put curses on them. (It’s real and it happens all the time here!) So we prayed all together and then some
of us went back to the hostel and some girls stayed the night. While we all prayed at different
locations and some throughout the night, God answered our prayers…the girls
were so thankful to have a peaceful sleep!
You see, God gave us this world to have authority over. He created us to have dominion over
this land, but God is a gentleman and he will not change our environment if we
don’t invite Him in. Prayer is us
inviting Jesus to take the reins.
So much of Africa is wrapped up in “witchcraft + Jesus,” that they don’t
understand that Jesus wants all or nothing. Jesus says, “…So because you are luke-warm –
neither hot nor cold – I’m about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Rev 3:16). He wants to be in our lives, but so
often we don’t think He is big enough to take control of it all.

To all those who are skeptic, it’s not a coincidence, its
real and it was GOD trampling on the devil! How many “pseudo-coincidences” are you going to have to hear
about or see to believe? God calls
us to have faith and faith is believing in something you can’t always see.
I love you all and miss you a ton! xoxoxox
