There is true beauty in what America is calling a recession right now.
Although 2/3rds of the world is probably laughing at us because “our
recession” is their dream, I believe there is greatness to be taken from it on
our part.

As I learn more and more what
it means to be a servant to others I can’t help but relate it to the
recession.  WE HAVE TO HAVE A
RECESSION TO WAKE UP TO THE WORLD WE LIVE IN!   We’ve become perfectionists at covering up our hurts
and others hurts with money, lavish life styles, houses and immediate
satisfactions.  John Piper said,
“It’s astonishing how blind our prosperity makes us to the misery of the
world.”  When our joy is rooted so
deeply in the “things” of the world we forget what it’s like for our joy to be
eternally rooted. Everything and everyone BUT OUR GOD will fail us at one point
or another and that is just plain irrefutable.

If we don’t pull together in a
time like this and be a “servant” to others, we will never get it!  I place “servant” in quotes because
many of us think it has a degrading connotation, but that’s far from truth. It
means a devoted and helpful follower or supporter.  It’s sad that it takes the lowest moments to drive us
closer, but thankfully our God loves us…RECESSION IS GODS MOMENT.

God is sovereign and He causes
OR allows ALL things.  Some would
say, then your God is worthless if He would allow such a thing.  I say, No!  My God loves us so much that HE IS ALLOWING US TO GO THROUGH
A RECESSION.  It is in these times
that GOD ALONE can prevail.  In the book of Judges the Lord tells Gideon to lessen his army from 10,000 to 300 so He (God)
could receive the praise.  GODS
MOMENT IS RECESSION because then and only then will so many of us realize that
God is so powerful and mighty to save.  It is in these moments that we will fall to our knees and realize that
we need Him.  Life was not meant to
be peaches and cream, it was meant to have an eternal meaning.   Although some will say this is
crap, it’s my prayer that so many would see what God has graciously allowed me
to see, His grace, love and compassion upon His people in this time of
recession.  It is at the end of our
rope that we will  find the true goodness in our families, friends, husbands
and wives and even those we truly don’t like…it is then when being a servant will count most for eternity.

Thank you to all my supporters for giving what God put on your heart.  In a time where money is precious, you have given what you have to “BE THE KINGDOM OF GOD” and held with open hands what is  Gods to begin with. I give all glory to God that in the middle of a recession He has not only provided me with close to $15,000, but He has graciously provided over $700,000 for my brothers and sisters serving with me this year.  Now tell me that God isn’t great!!!!  🙂
