I summoned a little help from YouTube to help show how I’m feeling about leaving on the World Race next week. (Welcome new subscribers!!!)
Right now, I’m on that bench.
Eager. Soaking in the inspiration, the fire, the desire to go out and serve the people awaiting our arrival. I’ve been pouring over blogs of other Racers out doing the work, living the life. My ears have been filled with songs of joy, praise, and a few Jock Jams to get me though packing/cleaning.
The team consists of: A) “C Squad”- an awesome crew of 45 people that will venture from country to country together. B) Team Courageous Love who are all featured on the left sidebar of this blog page- check them out! C) SUPPORTERS! This trip/work/service/dream would not be a reality without supporters. This is your team, your investment, your accomplishment, too! It’s a crowded bench, but a loaded set of talent to get the W.
Our playbook is marked by World Racers who have gone before us and is filled with teachings of Jesus and our past experiences. The fans cheering us on are friends and family back home and every other person who wants to see good prevail across the globe – who believes that love wins.
And it is going to be hard, sweaty work. (It’s hott most places we are going.) And we are guaranteed to trip a few times, travel the ball, and miss a pass or two. And some days we might feel like we’ve been benched and Coach doesn’t seem to want us back in the game. But there will be many more days filled with high-flying slam-dunks as all the camera phones flash and the team leaps off the bench with enthusiasm. But those lay-ups (daily work), the consistent dribble (praying), and our perseverance will see to it that our minutes are not wasted.
… I could go on with this analogy, but I’ll pull us back to that speech.
“We get one chance at life to do whatever we are going to do to lay our foundation for the legacy we want to leave.” We are lead by the coaching of our Father in heaven, by his Holy Spirit, and by his Son who walked among us. We want to be part of the legacy of his Kingdom.
“Winners and losers come a-dime-a-dozen, but effort can’t be judged because effort is between you and you.” This is a year of effort to love until our hearts break, and then keep loving and serving more.
I. AM. SO. STOKED.
I urge you to pursue your passions more earnestly in this new year. If you haven’t before, try putting God at the center and see how He stirs you up.
Romans 12:1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Thank you to the supporters who have already given toward the work ahead! Amazingly, I only have 35% left to raise. If you’d like to give to support the work and join the team, feel free to use the link at the top of the page. Any and every amount moves us closer to the final need! Thank you for your consideration.
