Agapē (IPA: /ˈægəpiː/[1])
(Gk.
αγάπη [aˈɣa.pi]) divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing,
active, volitional, and thoughtful love  The term ‘agape’ is rarely used in
ancient manuscripts, but was used by the early Christians to refer to the
self-sacrificing love of God
for humanity, which they were committed to reciprocating and practicing towards
God and among one another.

Our team desiring to be like the Acts church
started a family meal every evening where each couple would make their own food
and we would gather in the dining room to talk about the day and eat
together.  But, today we took it to a new level.

This morning during bible study Brian mentioned
something he had just read in the book he is reading and it sparked a
conversation about the Lord
s
Supper and how if we were to be the church we needed to share in Communion
together.  No, not the idea of communion that you have in your head.  If you read when Jesus
is breaking bread and drinking wine with his disciples he is eating a meal and
enjoying time with his companions around the table.  So team BOLD being the church and a
family decided to have communion
in the form of a feast (not an appetizer like the little piece of bread and
juice shared in the modern church today)

We started this Agape love feast today, but
will continue to make it a Monday night event.  We each will be responsible for brining part of the meal
(sharing what we have with one another) and toasting in remembrance of Jesus
for the past, present and future.
Thanking Jesus for what he has done for us.  Enjoying the present fellowship of our family around the table,
living the church and proclaiming God
s
Kingdom.  And, exhorting God for the future he has prepared for us in
his glorious Kingdom. As in the definition of Agape we are committed to
practicing self-sacrificing love towards God and one another.

Tonight that love looked like “mucho”  food, yeah, we feasted!  We had CHICKEN (meat is a big deal on a missionary budget)
stirfry with rice and all kinds of yummy veggies.  We drank some pepsie with limes in it from the tree in our
yard and used that as our toast.
We broke bread.  Then, after
the main course we had strawberry shortcake with ice cream and bananas for
dessert.  You should have heard the
oohs and ahhhs as we all enjoyed each others company and praised God for his
provisions and this scrumptious meal.
I mean it was so yummy!  I
even got so giggly towards the end of the meal.  (maybe it was joy, maybe it was the sugar, or maybe it was
the caffeine in the soda)  But, Monday
nights are going to be a time to look forward too.

Check out the night in pictures!

The preparation!

The food.  Himmay (Jimmy) eat your heart out.  🙂

The eating part.  Look at all those happy faces!  Brian is not even able to keep his tongue in his mouth due to the as he calls it “goodyness.”  We are one happy family!  Cheers.
