Josh and I just had the priveledge to house two children and one adult
from the Daraja African Children’s Choir. One of the boys who stayed
with us Gordon, was one of my students at the CCRC in Joska, Kenya when
I was there last Spring. He is the number one student in his class.
The other boy, John, is 12 and has so much energy and life flowing out
of him. You should hear his cartoon voice, especially when he speaks in
Kikuyu. It is hillarous! Patrick was the only one who came from
Uganda and shared with us a more first hand experience of what is going
on in the camps in Northern Uganda.
We had so much fun taking
them swimming, to the mountains to meet our parents, to the movies to
see Rataouille, out to a restaruant and just enjoying their company.
They were so very precious and their love for the Lord is very
evident. Oh and you should hear their voices! It will make your heart
melt when you hear them singing praises to the Lord. If you live
around Atlanta, you should come and hear them perform at A NIGHT FOR
AFRICA at Northpoint Community Church in Alpharetta on August 24th.
The website is www.northpoint.org/africa. Jeff Foxworthy will be
perfoming as well as the Big Stuf band, and the choir of course. Plus,
you will get to eat authentic African food and the money goes to
support a great ministry; 410 Bridge (www.410bridge.org).
Spending
time with these children has made me even more excited about going back
to Kenya in September. When I am in Africa something inside of me just
comes alive. Even thinking about getting to go back in a month makes
me ecstatic! And, being a part of the WORLD RACE makes me even more
excited.
