First weekend of teaching is complete! For those of you who don’t know details, here is what my team is in Kuala Lipis to do this month…
Our contact lives in Gua Musang which is relatively close to here and that is where he started the English program that we are here to help teach. My team met our contact in GM with another team on our squad (Joyful Feet), last week. But we were only there a day before he brought my team to Kuala Lipis. While the other team is continuing the work that he has been doing there for several years, my team is involved in expanding his ministry! We are the first World Race team to ever serve in Kuala Lipis!! How cool is that?! 😀
He brought us here to start the same English program that he started in GM, however, since this is a new location we are putting on sort of an “opening act” as it were. So we only teach on Saturdays and Sundays and it is mostly focused on Arts & Crafts and other fun activities to keep the kids engaged. Our hope/plan is that this month creates enough of an interest to allow a full time English school to be opened here by next Fall! This is such a blessing since open evangelism is illegal here and personal interaction is the best possible way to show Jesus to these people.
I am absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to lead the way into this city and this ministry. The thought that we could be the first of countless World Race teams to minister here is breathtaking. Kuala Lipis is the geographical center of peninsula Malaysia and it is quite literally the HEART of Malaysia. Our contact is burdened with this city and talks about how God wants to work here and transform this country from the inside out. I absolutely believe that my team (Divinely Appointed) was actually appointed by God to be here at this time.
