Went hiking today in Cameron Park with my roommate, Josh, and some girls from the restaurant. It was a beautiful day…when it’s been between 100-105 for the past several weeks, the low 90’s feels great…especially with the cool breeze off the river and the big trees blocking the sun. Such a great day!!! Josh and I started out and hiked for about 20 minutes…and got really lost!!! Thankfully there are signs (big signs) around the park and we were able to meet up with the rest of the crew…and then we got lost again. Granted, it’s pretty easy to get lost on the trails when all you see are trees and rocks everywhere, but come on! Getting lost twice in one day? So, for those of you whose team I get to be on while we’re traveling all over the world…I have NO sense of direction!! My prayer today was “Lord, please put me on a team with somebody who doesn’t get lost all the time, someone who has a built-in GPS system!” Seriously, this is something that I will be working on in “preparation” for The World Race – focusing on where I am so I don’t get myself or anyone else lost. On a positive note, we did get a great workout while we were trying to figure out how to get back to our trucks (just another part of the preparation process, right). So, at least I have the leadership skills to get our group fit and make the most of the day, but I guess I’m lacking the leadership skills of keeping on a safe, predictable path (even though getting lost allowed us to see some amazing views and some pretty sweet trails). Maybe I’ll grab a trail map the next time we go…
